After months of brainstorming and planning, our CAS group finally held Trivia Night after school today. 16 teams with 3-4 members each competed at this event. Trivia Night included 9 game rounds with a minimum of 10 questions in each round. Each round was timed and teams were given 5-10 minutes to answer the questions depending on the round. Additionally, we sold food while the teams were playing. Our CAS group successfully divided up roles to ensure that Trivia Night would go smoothly. Rahid timed each round and informed the teams of the rules of the game. Ben collected the question sheets from each team after the rounds were completed and helped sell food during the event.Hana graded the trivia question sheets after each round and went over the answers after every 3 rounds. Matthew supervised the groups and walked around to make sure that all the teams were not on their phones or trying to gain an unfair advantage. I recorded each team’s number of points after each round and tallied up the final total. From 2:45 to around 4:40, the teams enjoyed the playful competition against their peers and answered questions on geography, sports, music, movies, and more. At first, our CAS group worried about how the event would turn out because another CAS group was using the lunchroom directly before our event, making it difficult to set up Trivia Night in advance. However, our group quickly got the students to organize themselves into teams and promptly started the first rounds of the game. Trivia Night was a great success for our CAS group because it brought students from all grades together to have a fun time during a stressful time of the school year as the semester comes to an end. Additionally, ticket sales helped us raise a large portion of the total amount that we are donating to Y-Learning Tutoring at the YMCA.
