Y-Learning Tutoring at the YMCA

Y-Learning Tutoring is a program meant to guide students in and around Long Island City that are not meeting the grade level benchmarks at schools. The YMCA reaches out to schools and teachers to offer this service to students who could benefit from the program. Many of the children that are a part of Y-Learning would otherwise not have been able to access similar resources and are from low income families. The students in Y-Learning work with tutors and are assessed periodically to evaluate their progress. 

 

Y-Learning receives its funding from the YMCA of the Triangle’s Annual Campaign. Our CAS group wanted to ensure that this program would be available for many more students in the upcoming academic year. In order to do so, we decided to host a Trivia Night and donate the profit made from selling tickets and food and raffling prizes to Y-Learning at the Long Island City YMCA.
