During this process of creating this CAS project, I have gone through the struggles of generating a successful Trivia Night with my group. We first came up the idea of creating a health cook book, however as a group, we were not emotionally invested. In turn, we decided to find a new idea, Trivia Night, because we value education and providing the younger generation with the same learning opportunities that we have had in this rigorous International Baccalaureate program. With that in mind, we have chosen the program at the YMCA called Y-Learning/Tutoring. At the Y-Learning/Tutoring program, the adults mentor students that are from disadvantaged backgrounds. Throughout the weeks leading up to our event, we have held several bake sales to help with our profits and created over 100 questions to use for our Trivia Night. For the bake sales, we have brought in home-made food from own different cultural backgrounds and was able to successfully sell them. In total, we have made around $500 from ticket sales and from the bake sales. Some challenges that we went through is losing track of time, having a weak schedule and advertisement. The way that we have overcome these challenges were by redeveloping a schedule that fit into our own daily lives because sometimes we had other responsibilities. In order to have better advertisement, we spent time creating posters and posted them around the school and through social media to reach a larger audience. Overall, this experience was really fulfilling because I was able to bring students together from all grades for a friendly competition of knowledge to give back to the community. In the future, I look forward to continue helping out others.
