Project Proposal

We plan to hold Trivia Night for the school in which we ask questions on geography, science, mathematics, music, awards shows information, miscellaneous information. The game night would be created to raise money and all proceeds will then go to a tutoring/mentoring program called Y Learning- Tutoring at the YMCA. We decided to create this event because trivia and tutoring are both related to the development of knowledge. Many students in poor communities do not have the same resources or opportunities as other students in a better situation. Students today can be misguided and we believe that the YMCA tutoring/ mentoring program is a great way for these children to have the resources to succeed academically. Additionally, students who are struggling in class also may not have the resources to succeed. The YMCA provides them with “a comprehensive assessment of each child’s literacy skills, individualized weekly lesson plans focusing on specific goals for grades K-5, enrichment activities for middle school students, and college readiness and workforce preparation for high school students.” They help children of all ages as well as a form a relationship with their mentor. We want to support what the YMCA is doing therefore we will donate all the money we raise towards these programs by challenging the knowledge of the students of our school in the trivia night that we plan to have. Our goal is to raise $1500- 2000.
