Bake sale Reflection

The objective of our CAS Group is to raise money and donate it to a tutoring/mentoring program called Y Learning- Tutoring at the YMCA. We realized that we would have to raise money initially to have prizes and snacks for trivia night which led us to hold two bake sales. Everyone in the group brought in some food that we either buy or make at home such as pasta, dumplings, dhal puri, cookies, drinks and more. Preparing and holding the bake sale was a learning experience for all of us because we cooked homemade food which proved to be challenging. Holding the bakesale was also difficult because we had to advertise in the previous days as well as walking around and encouraging people to buy food. We’ve sold the food during our lunch period to our own grade, other grades we share lunch with, teachers and staff as well. In our first bakesale, we earned $93.28 and in our second bakesale, we raised $67.00 which are kept in saving (About $160 in total). A portion of the money that we have made from the bake sales will be used to fund the prizes, snacks and raffles that we plan to have for our main event, trivia night. We advertised this to the school with advertisements highlighting how our cause was to support the underprivileged students of our community.
